Woodstock Police Service Annual Awards and Recognition Ceremony

The Woodstock Police Service held their annual awards and recognition ceremony on Monday November 13th at Police Headquarters.  The annual event recognizes significant milestones and achievements in a member’s career.  This year, eleven members were being recognized.

The Police Exemplary Service Medal, created on August 12, 1983, recognizes police officers who have served in an exemplary manner, characterized by good conduct, industry and efficiency.

Constable James Daleug received the thirty year Bar to the Police Exemplary Service Medal.

Inspector Paul Hess received the Twenty Year Exemplary Service Medal.

Constables Bob Bezzo and Tim Wiseman received the Jeff Pincombe Bursary. The bursary is administered through the Hardie Foundation and recognizes new WPS recruits who have completed their Basic Training from the Ontario Police College graduating with a 90% average, completing their training with a coach officer and are possessive of the positive qualities of a good police officer.

Members absent, but being recognized are Staff Sergeant Rod Wilkinson, Constable Diane Ruppert and Constable Steven Berkeley for the Twenty year Exemplary Service Medal.

Civilian members absent but being recognized were Communications Dispatchers Diane Paulter for thirty- five years’ service, Lindsay Batte for fifteen years of service and Marnie MacMeeken for thirteen years of service. Both Batte and MacMeekin have left the service to pursue other career opportunities. Special Constable Larry Carter was recognized for eleven years of service with the Court Security Unit and has recently retired.

Chief Bill Renton said it is one of the more pleasurable events in our policing duties when we have the opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication of our members. Policing is an extremely complex and challenging profession and for the members being recognized this year, it truly speaks to the years of service and commitment to the community which is commendable.
