2018 Police Week: It’s Police Week in Ontario

“We are Celebrating Policing and Community Partnerships”

The Woodstock Police Service is inviting the community to join us in celebrating Police Week from May 13 to 19, 2018. Since 1970, Police Week has occurred in May to coincide with Peace Officers Memorial Day, recognized internationally on May 15. This year’s theme, Celebrating Policing and Community Partnerships, seeks to highlight two distinct concepts, which are intrinsically linked:

  1. Celebrating policing as a key factor in healthy and safe communities across our Province: and
  2. Promote community partnerships as a means to helping achieve the goal of community safety and well-being.

Today, policing is under pressure to meet a myriad of expectations from the public, the government, and from those within the profession. This makes it even more important for Police to work in collaboration with community partners.

“We are proud of our police officers and personnel and the work they do to keep our communities safe. Police Week is about celebrating professional, accountable, and effective policing here and across our Province,” said Chief Bill Renton. “Throughout the week, we will celebrate policing and engage with members of the public about the public safety issues they are concerned about. Our goal is to work together for a safer community for everyone.”
