WEEKEND BRIEFS

Woodstock, ON (September 13, 2021)

 

STOLEN VEHICLE

 

On Friday September 10, 2021 at approximately 2:30 p.m. the Woodstock Police Service Community Response Unit responded to information regarding a stolen vehicle.  Police attended and located the vehicle in a parking lot at Devonshire Avenue and Woodall Way.

 

As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old male of Woodstock was charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 (2 Counts)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

 

A 30-year-old female of Ingersoll was charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000.

 

FATAL COLLISION

 

On Friday, September 10, 2021 at approximately 9:55 p.m. the Woodstock Police Service responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls for reports of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Main Street and Mill Street. Police arrived on scene and immediately extracted the female driver from the vehicle that had been struck and began CPR. Oxford County Paramedic Service arrived and transported the woman to hospital. At hospital, Karen FRANKLIN (50) of Woodstock, was pronounced deceased.

 

The Woodstock Police Service Traffic Unit attended the scene to perform collision reconstruction. The police investigation revealed that a 27-year-old male driver of Woodstock traveled through a red traffic light at the intersection at a high rate of speed and collided with the female’s vehicle. The male driver was transported to hospital and treated for minor injuries.

 

The investigation is ongoing at this time with charges pending.

RECOVERED STOLEN ELECTRIC BIKE  

 

On September 8, 2021 the Woodstock Police Service responded to reports of a blue and black electric bike that had been reported stolen from outside a business in the area of Norwich Avenue and Juliana Drive.

 

On Saturday, September 11, 2021 at approximately 5:10 a.m. the Woodstock Police Service responded to reports of three suspicious males on bikes going through construction sites in the area of Pember’s Pass. When police arrived on scene the blue and black electric bike that had been reported stolen was recovered by police.

The Woodstock Police Service is looking for information in relation to three vehicles being keyed in a parking lot at Devonshire Avenue and Industrial Avenue between Thursday, September 9, 2021 and Saturday, September 11, 2021.

ATTEMPTED THEFT

 

The Woodstock Police Service are looking for information to help identify a suspect involved in an attempted theft.

 

On Saturday, September 11, 2021 at approximately 8:50 p.m. the Woodstock Police Service responded to a business in the area of Dundas Street near Clarke Street for reports of an attempted theft. A male suspect, described to be approximately six feet tall, in his 20s and wearing jeans and a black zip up hoodie, attempted to flee the store with unpaid for product after being confronted by a store employee. A nearby shopper attempted to help the store employee and grabbed the product, but was struck in the face by the suspect.

SHOPLIFTING

On Sunday, September 12, 2021 at approximately 11:10 a.m. the Woodstock Police Service responded to reports of a suspected shoplifting in progress at a store in the area of Norwich Avenue and Juliana Drive as a female suspect was observed concealing unpaid for items.

 

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old female of Woodstock was arrested and charged with:

  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
