Serve Your Community in a Meaningful Way
Volunteers are an essential part of the Woodstock Police Service (WPS) team.
Through our Auxiliary and community engagement programs, volunteers help strengthen relationships between police and the public, promote safety initiatives, and support events that make Woodstock a better place to live and work.
Whether assisting during community events, helping with traffic management, or supporting public education programs, our volunteers make a real difference.
General Information
The WPS Auxiliary Program is a volunteer-based initiative that supports operational and community activities across Woodstock.
Auxiliary members are not police officers but receive training and supervision to assist sworn and civilian staff safely and professionally.
Auxiliary members may:
- Assist at community events, parades, and festivals
- Support traffic control and crowd management
- Participate in crime prevention and public safety initiatives
- Assist with search efforts or emergency response support when requested
- Act as ambassadors for WPS, promoting trust, awareness, and engagement
Auxiliary members are provided with uniforms, orientation, and ongoing training opportunities.
Requirements
To become a volunteer with the Woodstock Police Service, applicants must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Possess a Grade 12 diploma (or equivalent)
- Have no criminal record and be of good moral character
- Be available for evening and weekend activities
- Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and professionalism
Successful applicants must complete a background check and attend an interview and orientation session before being approved as a volunteer.
