Woodstock, ON – A Woodstock man is facing an impaired driving charge following a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program conducted in the city.

On December 16, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of the Woodstock Police Service were conducting a Festive R.I.D.E. checkpoint in the area of Vansittart Avenue and Tecumseh Street. While monitoring vehicles approaching the checkpoint, officers observed the driver and passenger of a vehicle switch seats prior to reaching the R.I.D.E. stop.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old male from Woodstock was arrested. Subsequent testing revealed the driver’s blood-alcohol concentration exceeded the legal limit.

The accused has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus

The accused was released with a future court date and issued an administrative driver’s licence suspension.

Festive R.I.D.E. programs continue throughout the month of December as part of ongoing efforts to increase impaired driving awareness and enhance public safety.

The Woodstock Police Service reminds motorists that impaired driving remains a serious risk to everyone on the road. Members of the public who observe a suspected impaired driver are encouraged to call 9-1-1.
