The Vulnerable Person Registry is a voluntary program offered by the Woodstock Police Service to help keep vulnerable members of our community safe.

This registry allows family members and caregivers to share important information—such as emergency contacts, a recent photo, medical needs, daily routines, and communication considerations—with the Woodstock Police Service. Having this information readily available helps officers respond quickly and effectively in the event of an emergency or missing person situation.

If your loved one is living with dementia, additional support is available through the Finding Your Way program, offered in partnership with the Alzheimer Society of Southwest Partners. This program helps people with dementia-related memory loss live safely in our community. For more information or to register, please contact the Alzheimer Society directly.

Who is a Vulnerable Person?

A vulnerable person is someone who, because of a medical, mental health, or physical condition, may display behaviours that put themselves or others at risk. Examples include:

  • Wandering or becoming disoriented
  • Difficulty communicating
  • Fixations or attractions (e.g., water, vehicles, construction sites)
  • Unusual social responses such as fear of strangers or aggression

Individuals who may benefit from registration include those living with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Acquired Brain Injury, dementia, or other conditions that affect communication, awareness, or behaviour.

Why Register?

When officers have access to accurate and timely information—like a photo, physical description, and caregiver contact details—it can make a critical difference during emergencies. The registry helps first responders identify and assist vulnerable individuals quickly and safely.
