Established in 2021, the Community Engagement Unit enhances proactive policing and strengthens the Woodstock Police Service’s connection with the community. The unit is comprised of a Traffic Officer, Canine Unit, Community Engagement Officer, Media Relations & Community Service Officer, and is supervised by a Sergeant
The community engagement unit takes a proactive approach to policing by focusing on community priorities, targeted enforcement, and crime prevention initiatives. Officers use data, crime trends, and community feedback to identify and address issues in known hot spots across the city.
Through collaboration with residents, businesses, and partner organizations, the community engagement unit works to reduce crime, improve neighbourhood safety, and build trust between the police and the community. By combining enforcement with engagement, the community engagement unit helps to create a safer and more connected Woodstock.
