The Community Service Unit plays a key role in strengthening the relationship between the Woodstock Police Service (WPS) and the community it serves.

The Community Service Officer (CSO) is a uniformed constable responsible for community engagement, public education, crime prevention initiatives, and media relations on behalf of WPS.

The CSO represents the Service at numerous community events, provides safety and educational presentations, and manages public communications, ensuring accurate and timely information is shared with residents, media partners, and community organizations.

The officer also serves as the WPS liaison to Crime Stoppers of Oxford and supports special initiatives throughout the year.

The CSO facilitates a variety of community and educational programs, including:

  • Citizen’s Police Academy
  • Kids & Cops Baseball
  • Kids & Cops Day Camp
  • Virtual Coffee with a Cop
  • Values, Influences & Peers (VIP)
  • Internet and Social Media Safety (for youth and parents)
  • Frauds and Scams Awareness
  • Traffic and Road Safety
  • Personal and Property Safety
  • Introduction to Policing
  • Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI) Summer Student Program
  • Station Tours

And more!

Throughout the year, the CSO and other WPS members — including the Auxiliary Unit — proudly participate in numerous community events such as:

  • Torch Run and Polar Plunge for Special Olympics
  • Blood Drives and Community Fundraisers
  • Touch-a-Truck Events and Parades
