The Traffic Unit is responsible for enhancing road safety through proactive enforcement, education, and collision investigation. The unit consists of two dedicated Traffic Officers who focuses on identifying and addressing traffic concerns within the City of Woodstock.

Community feedback plays an important role in guiding enforcement efforts. Areas of concern – such as speeding, aggressive driving, distracted driving, and school zone safety – are regularly monitored to improve safety for all road users.

The Traffic Unit also participates in joint enforcement initiatives with City of Woodstock By-law Enforcement, the Ministry of Transportation (MTO), the Ministry of Finance, and neighbouring police services to address high-risk driving behaviours and ensure vehicle compliance.

The Traffic Officersare trained to the Level IV Traffic Collision Reconstruction standard, allowing them to investigate serious and fatal collisions. They are also a certified Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), qualified to assess and provide evidence of drug-impaired driving.

In addition, the Traffic Officers provides in-house training for other members of the Woodstock Police Service in the use of speed-measuring and enforcement technologies, supporting consistent and professional traffic enforcement across the organization.
