An OACP Certificate is used to confirm that a person has the basic skills needed to be a police officer.

No. However, when we are actively trying to hire for an OPC class, applicants who have their Certificate will receive first priority. It is an asset but not required to apply. You must have an OACP Certificate in order to be invited to Fitness Testing.

You must be 18 years of age, however, the majority of our candidates have graduated from college or university. The cadet program is suited for younger applicants who have less life experience.

The process may take between 2 to 6 months to complete if the candidate is successful in all components.

The Ontario Police College (OPC) has four (4) intakes per year in January, April, July and October. Our selection process is ongoing throughout the year, and coordinated with the OPC intakes and the number of spots available for our recruits at the college.

No. The minimum education requirement is four years of secondary school or equivalent, but the majority of applicants have post-secondary education from college or university from a wide variety of programs.
