The Woodstock Police Service Special Victims Unit works collaboratively with a number of community partners to provide service and support to victims of human trafficking, sex related crimes, intimate partner violence, and elder abuse.
Victim Assistance Service of Oxford County (VASoc) |
VASoc provides assistance to victims of crime and/or tragic circumstances. We offer emotional support, practical assistance and community referral information to victims and their families.
VASoc offers a variety of crisis intervention services to persons affected by crime and/or tragedy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Teams of trained staff and volunteer crisis support workers can provide assistance at a safe location or by telephone.
Witnessing or being involved in an accident, assault, robbery or violent incident are just a few examples of traumatic experiences that can upset us in a number of different ways. Each person reacts differently to a traumatic experience. There is no right or wrong way to respond. A person's reaction to trauma may depend on the amount of trauma a person has experienced in their lifetime and the support they receive. Family members, friends, and others involved may also experience trauma.
