Your journey to becoming a police officer can start sooner than you think! The Woodstock Police Service is seeking Special Constables and Cadets to gain experience in the policing field.
Special Constable - Court Security
Special Constables hired by the Woodstock Police Service provide security services to the Courthouses in Woodstock. Special Constable duties include but are not limited to:
- Search and screen individuals in custody;
- Screen and scan entry into the Courthouse;
- Prisoner transportation to and from court, correctional facilities and other police agencies;
- Serve court documents; and
- Complete fingerprinting and process other judicial orders.
Special Constable - Cadet
Cadets are primarily stationed at Woodstock Police Service Headquarters. They are assigned to a platoon and follow that platoon's schedule rotation. Cadets primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Search and screen individuals in custody;
- Monitor individuals in custody;
- DNA and fingerprinting;
- Prisoner transportation to and from correctional facilities and other police agencies; and
- Respond to minor calls for service.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's licence with a good driving record. An OACP Certificate is an asset.
