Traffic Unit

The Traffic Unit consists of one officer dedicated to traffic enforcement and safety initiatives. The Traffic Officer uses feedback from the community to enforce areas of concern.

In 2021, the Traffic Unit conducted over 40 traffic safety initiatives. Some projects involve city by-law, Ministry of Transportation & Finance, and other police services.

The Traffic Officer has Level 4 Traffic Reconstruction training to investigate major collisions. They are also a Drug Recognition Expert trained to provide evidence of impairment by drugs. The Traffic Officer trains other officers in the use of speed measuring devices.
